On the morning of September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene brought damaging winds and rain to South Carolina like never before. The outages peaked when 386,270 customers were without power. Thousands of Dominion Energy employees and additional out-of-state crews worked nonstop to get our great state back to normal. Since the start of the unprecedented recovery work, more than 446,000 customers have been safely restored.

As the cleanup continues in your community and the sights of neighbors helping neighbors inspires us all, we thank you for your patience, grace, help and understanding. Serving you, no matter the storm or Carolina blue-sky day, is a privilege.

Hurricane Helene damaged:

  • 130 transmission poles
  • 350 spans of transmission line
  • 2,130 distribution poles
  • 6,840 spans of power line between the poles
  • 1,090 transformers

In response to Helene, Dominion Energy employed:

  • 1,565 distribution linemen
  • 57 transmission linemen
  • 100 damage assessors
  • 430 tree service contractors
