When you enroll in Dominion Green Power you not only get the guarantee that renewable energy was generated and delivered to the regional power pool on your behalf, you can also claim the environmental benefits associated with renewable energy production.
It's easy to match your home's electricity use with renewable energy.
When you enroll in Dominion Energy Green Power, your monthly investment goes towards the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from wind and solar facilities in Virginia and the surrounding region.
The purchase of RECs helps to support future growth and production of new clean energy technologies.
There are two ways to participate:
Pricing Details: This option allows you to match your entire monthly electricity usage with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This additional cost is calculated by adding 1.2 cents ($0.012) per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity used to your monthly bill.
Example: If you are enrolled in the 100% Option and use 1,000 kWh per month, you can expect to pay $12 more per month for Dominion Energy Green Power (1,000 kWh x $0.012). Actual cost will be calculated by Dominion Energy and will vary from month to month according to your actual electricity use.
Calculations are approximate and based on EPA methodology.
Pricing Details: This option allows you to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in blocks. Each block costs $2 (based on a rate of $0.012 per kWh), and represents 167
kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy. You can add as many blocks as you wish to your monthly bill, and they will be charged each month.
Example: If you are enrolled in the Block Option and choose to purchase12 blocks, $24 will be added to your monthly electricity bill to support renewable energy (12 blocks x $2). This charge will be the same fixed amount on your bill each month.

With either option, the monthly charge for Dominion Energy Green Power is in addition to your monthly electric bill. This extra charge will appear on your bill as "Green Power (Rider G)."
You may cancel or change your participation level at any time without penalty and participation requires no changes to your facilities.
When you purchase RECs through the Dominion Energy Green Power program, you can claim specific environmental benefits associated with the renewable energy you support.
The renewable energy purchased for $10 per month with the Block Option is equivalent to removing one car from the road for a year.*
