It's easy to match your electricity use with renewable energy. When you enroll in Dominion Energy Green Power®, your monthly investment goes towards the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from wind and solar facilities in Virginia and the surrounding region. These RECs are then retired on your behalf. The purchase of RECs helps to support future growth and production of new clean energy facilities. 123
How Does the Program Work?
When you sign up, we buy Green-e Energy® certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) from renewable energy facilities and retire them on your behalf. This guarantees that renewable energy is generated and delivered to the power pool in the amount specified.

Block Option
Pricing Details: This option allows you to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in blocks. Each block costs $2 (based on a rate of $0.012 per kWh), and represents 167 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy. You can add as many blocks as you wish to your monthly bill, and they will be charged each month.
Example: If you are enrolled in the Block Option and choose to purchase12 blocks, $24 will be added to your monthly electricity bill to support renewable energy (12 blocks x $2). This charge will be the same fixed amount on your bill each month.
Calculations are approximate and based on EPA methodology.
100% Match
Pricing Details: This option allows you to match your entire monthly electricity usage with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This additional cost is calculated by adding 1.2 cents ($0.012) per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity used to your monthly bill.
Example: If you are enrolled in the 100% Option and use 1,000 kWh per month, you can expect to pay $12 more per month for Dominion Energy Green Power® (1,000 kWh x $0.012). Actual cost will be calculated by Dominion Energy and will vary from month to month according to your actual electricity use.

Launched on January 1, 2009, Dominion Energy Green Power® is one of more than 500 voluntary green pricing programs throughout the country that provide customers with a practical and economical way to support renewable energy and harness the benefits.
With a cost of just 1.2 cents additional per kilowatt-hour, it's one of the most affordable voluntary green power programs in the country, based on data from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
