Smart Home Program

The Smart Home program connects residential customers with smart home technology to make your home more convenient, personalized and energy efficient.

Smart home technology is rapidly evolving, and Dominion Energy is offering rebate incentives on smart home products to help you start saving.

In this program, smart home technologies are offered in a convenient, customizable Smart Home Kit, so that your home benefits from a fully integrated set of compatible smart products. To receive the discounts, the kit items must be purchased online on the program web page.

You must be a residential Dominion Energy North Carolina electric customer who:

  • Lives in a single-family detached residence or a single-family attached residence
  • Is responsible for the electric bill
  • Is the owner of the home or is able to secure permission to complete the measures

Program Eligibility Requirements:

Must be a residential Dominion Energy North Carolina electric customer.

  • Must have electric heating and cooling with an air source heat pump or geothermal heat pump.
  • Must live in a single-family detached residence, a single-family attached residence (such as a townhome or condo), or a single-family manufactured home (such as a mobile home or modular home).
  • Residents of multifamily apartment units are not eligible for this program. However, multifamily apartment customers may be eligible for energy-saving measures through the Multifamily program.
  • Is responsible for the electric bill.
  • Is the owner of the home or is able to secure permission to participate.

Customers who have previously received a rebate for any of the measures as part of DSM VII Home Energy Assessment Program, DSM VIII Home Energy Evaluation Program, Residential Manufactured Home Program or Residential Energy Efficiency Kits Program is not eligible to receive a kit in the Program for the same address.

Home Energy Evaluation Program

Do you avoid areas of your home because they are uncomfortably warm or cold? Is your home ready for energy-saving upgrades?

The Home Energy Evaluation Program (previously Home Retrofit and Home Energy Assessment) helps you reduce your energy consumption and costs while improving your home's comfort and efficiency. You can choose between two options: an Introductory Energy Assessment or a Comprehensive Home Energy Audit.

Two Options For Your Home Energy Evaluation

Introductory Energy Check-Up:

Comprehensive Home Energy Audit:

The Introductory Energy Check-Up is a great option for homeowners who want a quick and easy introduction to saving energy at home. The Comprehensive Home Energy Audit is for homeowners who want to make a long-term investment in their home's energy efficiency and access more rebate opportunities.

Available Measures May Include

  • Air sealing
  • Tune-up on heat pump or central AC
  • Heat pump or mini split upgrade
  • Smart thermostat installation
  • Duct Sealing
  • Duct insulation on heat pump system or central AC
  • Attic, wall, basement wall and crawl space insulation
  • Replacement of electric water heater with a heat pump water heater

  • Must live in a single-family detached residence or a single-family attached residence.
