Something new is coming
Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy File to Combine
Building a stronger company to meet growing power demand.
In May, Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy announced plans to combine, and on July 15, 2026, the companies filed applications seeking regulatory approval on their proposed combination.
The filings with the Virginia State Corporation Commission, the North Carolina Utilities Commission, the Public Service Commission of South Carolina, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, formally begin the required regulatory approval processes, and affirm commitments of the combined company to customers, employees, communities, and shareholders.
NextEra Energy is the largest electric and energy infrastructure company in North America, headquartered in Juno Beach, Florida, and provides power to 6 million homes and businesses across Florida. Our companies share common values and a commitment to our customers, and together, will be well positioned to continue reliably and affordably meeting your energy needs.
As a customer, there is no action you need to take.
You can count on the same reliable service, dedicated team, and familiar ways to interact with us. The Dominion Energy name isn't changing, and the combination will not affect how we operate locally, serve our customers, or engage with the community. Dominion Energy leadership will still be here and job protections for Dominion Energy employees will ensure you continue to be served by the people you know.
Subject to regulatory approvals, the combination is expected to close in the second half of 2027.
This is not an offer or solicitation. Please read additional details and see “Cautionary Information.”
