We are rebuilding approximately 3.9 miles of an aging 230 kilovolt (kV) double-circuit electric transmission line between our Hathaway Substation and the Duke Energy Progress connection point located in Nash County, North Carolina. After six decades of reliable service, the existing structures and related components are at the end of their service life and need to be replaced. This rebuild will meet current electric standards and maintain service reliability for our customers. We plan to rebuild the line in two phases between fall 2023 and summer 2024. We will rebuild in the same right of way using galvanized steel monopole structures that are similar in height to the existing lattice structures. No new right of way is needed.
