How can we help you?
Powering a Growing Virginia
Meeting Virginia's Growing Energy Demand
In 2024, energy use in our Virginia service territory resulted in six new all-time peak demand records. And in January 2025, we set three new records. New infrastructure that generates energy is needed to ensure we can continue to reliably serve you.

All-of-the-Above Energy Strategy
No single power source will reliably serve the rapid growth in power demand that we're experiencing now and that is projected in the years ahead. A diverse mix of energy sources is critical to keeping the lights on and businesses running in Virginia.

Continued Commitment to Carbon-Free Energy
80% of new power generation in our long-term plan is carbon-free—from sources like wind, solar and nuclear.

Energy Demand is Increasing
The top 30 summer peaks—days with the highest energy use—in the region we serve have all been set since 2022.

A Balanced Energy Approach
Renewables, Natural Gas and Nuclear
The state is growing and it’s our job to deliver safe, reliable, affordable and increasingly clean power to our customers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
During this time of historic growth, we are committed to the critical role we play in sustaining our communities – keeping hospitals powered, homes cool, phones charged, factories running and businesses humming.
As energy use continues to grow, we need a comprehensive and all-of-the-above energy approach that provides a growing supply of energy to drive progress forward.
"We are experiencing the largest growth in power demand since the years following World War II."1

Chesterfield Energy Reliability Center
A Key to Grid Reliability
As energy use rises in Virginia, a natural gas generation facility in Chesterfield County will serve as an always-ready resource, that can provide reliable power when other energy sources are unavailable or insufficient to meet customers’ energy needs. When operating, Chesterfield Energy Reliability Center will generate enough energy to power more than 200,000 homes.

Focused on Reliability
As we expand our solar and wind operations, natural gas can fill the gaps to ensure you have the power you need, even when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing. The Chesterfield County natural gas facility will play a key role in ensuring energy reliability.

Economic Impact that Supports Your Community
During construction, the project will generate over 490 new local jobs and over $103 million in local economic output. Once built, the project will generate 35 new direct and indirect jobs and add $28.7 million in new local economic output annually.

Always Ready Resources
Will provide power in as little as 10 minutes, supporting a rapid response to customers’ needs for energy on the hottest and coldest days of the year.
