Thrasher Junction – Thrasher Substation Fiber Project
Overview

At Dominion Energy, we continually review our infrastructure to provide the reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy that powers our customers every day. We are installing fiber on an existing electric transmission line between our Thrasher Substation and near the Thrasher Junction located in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia. This project will improve communications between substations and provide the necessary resiliency and security to operate and monitor the bulk power system.

Timeline
- Summer - fall 2023: Field surveys
- Summer 2024: Prepare access to transmission structures
- Late summer - late fall 2024: Install fiber on transmission structures
- Winter 2024 - 2025: Restoration activities in right of way
