Dominion Energy partners with Keep Gastonia Beautiful to Bring Healthy Food Experiences to Children in Gaston County.Over 500 children will prepare fresh and healthy food this summer with the help of local farmers and culinary experts as part of the Farm-to-Table initiative spearheaded by Keep Gastonia Beautiful and funded by Dominion Energy.
The program connects farmers with populations facing food insecurity while educating them about nutrition with farm-to-table experiences.
“Farm-to-Table aligns very unique organizations and non-profits for a single cause, reducing the barriers to healthy food through community collaboration,” said Juliann Lehman, Keep Gastonia Beautiful’ s Administrator.

Participants will engage with farmers at the Gastonia Farmer’s Market and other venues, see local farms virtually and get hands-on cooking demonstrations from R.A.M.S Kitchen at 18 events over the summer. Keep Gastonia Beautiful received $15,000 as part of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation’s 2022 Environmental Education and Stewardship grant cycle.
“It was a serious hit! We had kids eating freshly bought vegetables directly from the farmers and they interviewed them with a bunch of questions,” said Lehman.
