Strengthening the Communities We Serve

Volunteerism is at the heart of Dominion Energy’s community programs and is deeply embedded in our company’s history. Archival documents indicate that, as far back as 1918, employees of our predecessor, Virginia Railway and Power Company, united to package and deliver boxes of food to families in need during the holiday season. Today’s employees continue to embody that spirit, with a longstanding tradition of community service that few companies can match.

Employees In Action

Year round, employees roll up their sleeves to volunteer their time and skills to support projects such as weatherizing homes, building nature trails in parks, cleaning up waterways, planting trees, constructing access ramps for mobility challenged community members, delivering meals to neighbors in need, and repairing school facilities.

Community organizations are encouraged to submit a volunteer project application to request support for their volunteer needs. We can increase the outcomes in our community by planning volunteer projects that connect our resources to meet the needs of each opportunity. If your organization has a volunteer project need, please email us:

Recognizing Our Employees in Action

Each year, Dominion Energy honors outstanding employee and retiree volunteers as Benjamin J. Lambert III, Volunteers of the Year. Each honoree receives $5,000 to direct to a non-profit of their choice and is recognized at the award ceremony each Spring.

Over the span of nearly four decades, our volunteers have established an extraordinary legacy of helping those in need, working one-on-one or in teams to enhance educational outcomes, support veterans in need, aid vulnerable community members and improve our environment. Some projects that were intended to last one day have endured and are still going strong. In other words, our volunteer program is built to last.
