Winterpock Solar

Overview

Over the next 15 years, Dominion Energy plans to add about 16,000 MWs of solar generating capacity as part of Virginia’s plan for 100% zero-carbon electricity by 2045 and the company’s goal to achieve net zero emissions from its electric and gas infrastructure by 2050.

In order to meet these renewable energy and sustainability goals, we are exploring various types of renewable energy opportunities. One such project is Winterpock Solar, which will be a 20MW facility utility-scale solar generating facility in Chesterfield County. The project is sited on approximately 342 acres on the south side of River Road and east side of Eppes Falls Road. Subject to receiving all necessary regulatory approvals and permits by the State Corporation Commission, construction is slated to begin late 2022 or early 2023.

In addition to supporting our efforts for a clean and sustainable energy future in Virginia, projects like Winterpock provide many benefits to the local community. Projects often use Virginia and locally-based suppliers and labor, help create clean energy jobs, and increase local tax revenues.
