Chesterfield - Hopewell
Project Overview

Dominion Energy has an existing electric transmission corridor running from its Chesterfield Substation in Chesterfield County to its Hopewell Substation in the City of Hopewell. Approximately 8 miles of double-circuit 230 kV transmission line between these substations is nearing the end of its service life and needs to be replaced with new structures that meet current safety and industry standards.
January 22, 2024 - The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) issued a final order approving the project. View final order.

SCC
The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) is responsible for verifying the need, determining the route and reviewing the environmental impact of certain transmission lines in Virginia.
On April 6, 2023, Dominion Energy filed its application with the SCC. Documents related to the case are available to the public on the SCC Docket of the SCC website or search by Case No. PUR-2023-00054 under “Search Cases”. In addition, interested parties may comment directly to the SCC by sending an email to sccinfo@scc.virginia.gov.
