Development of a pumped hydroelectric storage facility in Southwest Virginia would produce new jobs and investment, bringing significant economic opportunity to the region. This infrastructure would also be a long-term investment in strengthening the reliability of Virginia’s electric grid. To show my strong support for constructing a pumped hydroelectric storage facility in Virginia’s Coalfield Region, I would like to join the Powering Southwest Virginia Coalition.

Recent Projects in the Region

Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center opened in St. Paul, Virginia in 2012. It uses coal and biomass to produce enough electricity to power 150,000 homes and contributes $25 million annually to the local economy.
