Dominion Energy’s natural gas customers in North Carolina can sign up for GreenTherm, a new and affordable way for customers to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. The program will allow customers to offset carbon emissions from natural gas use in their homes and businesses by supporting projects, including several in North Carolina, that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The program is voluntary and available to all residential and commercial customers. To participate, customers may purchase carbon offsets for as little as $3 each month. A typical residential customer can offset their entire carbon footprint from their natural gas usage for just $12 a month. Dominion Energy does not earn a profit from the program. Customers can sign up at DominionEnergy.com/GreenTherm, through the Dominion Energy mobile app, or by calling Customer Service at 877-776-2427.

Through GreenTherm, customers will support projects that reduce landfill emissions as well as forest preservation projects that capture carbon emissions from the air in North Carolina and in neighboring states.

Emissions-reducing projects in North Carolina include:

  • Landfill gas capture/combustion – Buncombe County Landfill, Alexander, NC
  • Landfill gas capture/combustion – Johnston County Landfill, Smithfield, NC
  • Landfill gas capture/combustion – Upper Piedmont Landfill, Rougemont, NC
  • Avoided Forest Conversation – Noles Farms, Washington and Hyde Counties, NC

The company has also launched ThermWise®, a collection of energy efficiency programs designed for customers like you to save money on your monthly gas bill and protect the environment.
