Dominion Energy West's ERG Summer Bash showcased the power of teamwork and unity in celebrating diversity and inclusion within our organization.Dominion Energy West recently wrapped up its highly anticipated ERG Summer Bash, an amazing employee-driven event that exemplified the power of unity, diversity, and inclusion that makes us One Dominion Energy.
This extraordinary gathering was orchestrated and brought to life by the dedicated members of the company's six Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Throughout the day, employees had the chance to delve into each ERG's unique mission, enjoy a delicious meal, engage in games, and connect with colleagues from across the organization.
Tasha Christensen, an engineer III and the We3 West chair, played a pivotal role in the event's success. Her responsibilities spanned from overseeing meetings and budgets to ensuring flawless execution. However, she stressed that the real magic stemmed from her planning team's collective dedication and talents. Ben Hansen, another key collaborator, remarked, "The Summer Bash was the brainchild of Tasha Christensen, one of our most influential leaders. She skillfully leveraged this group collaboration as a springboard for the event, with each leadership team contributing their talents and financial support to guarantee our success."
Judd Cook, VP & general manager of Dominion Energy Utah, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The event was more than a huge success; it is becoming one of the highlights of the year for us as an organization. It demonstrates what our ERGs can do when they come together in support of our work family.”
At the heart of Dominion Energy West's vibrant culture lie its Employee Resource Groups, more than just networking hubs. They provide platforms for employees with shared interests and backgrounds to connect, collaborate, and build meaningful communities. These ERGs enrich the workplace environment, promote professional growth, and celebrate diversity.
The ERG Summer Bash served as a platform for fostering discussions on unity, diversity, equity, and inclusion. ERG booths facilitated engaging conversations, equipping participants with fresh knowledge and perspectives to share with their teams.
One of the keys to the event's success was its collaborative nature, as Steve Jensen, dispatch supervisor, highlighted: "Having at least two representatives from each of our six ERG leadership teams on the planning committee ensured that all ERG teams and members felt included and represented in the Summer Bash."

As Shiloh Johnson, business process analyst, noted, "While we love to gather, see each other, and enjoy good food, bringing different ERG members together to discuss ideas and organize this event is a huge undertaking."
As the day drew to a close, we recognized six exceptional ERG members for their unwavering dedication: Deanna Hopkins, Dustin Robinson, Veronica Olney, Pauline Caraveo, Jaren Adamson, and Jeremy Arends. Tasha Christensen reflected, "One of the most touching moments for me was during the ERG nominations. Many of the nominated individuals weren't even aware they were being considered. Witnessing their genuine surprise and delight as our MC, Shiloh Johnson, read out the descriptions of their nominations was truly heartwarming."
The 2nd ERG Summer Bash at Dominion Energy West wasn't just an event; it was a testament to the organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It showcased the strength of unity, the magic of collaboration, and the importance of recognizing the unsung heroes who make it all possible.
