Our valued customers

Dear Valued Customer:

Every year brings its own challenges, and 2021 was no exception.

Despite the pandemic and other obstacles, we continued to focus on safely delivering reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy, and protecting the environment. In 2021, excluding major storms, the reliability of our customers improved 5 percent compared to the previous year. However, our work is never done when it comes to improving your service.

As always, we put safety first. We never want anyone to get hurt, and do our best to make sure nobody does.

At Dominion Energy, actions speak louder. We live our values of Safety, Ethics, Excellence, Embrace Change, and One Dominion Energy (i.e., teamwork). And we strive to give back to the communities where we live and work.

We are focused on making the energy we provide cleaner and more environmentally friendly by investing in solar, wind and other forms of renewable energy.

By 2050, we will achieve net zero greenhouse–gas emissions across all of our electric and natural gas operations in the states where we do business.

Serving our Customers and Communities

Serving our customers and communities

In 2021, we engaged in extensive restoration efforts after severe weather events, including two February ice storms. And we sent crews to assist those devastated by Hurricane Ida.

We continue to take an all–hands–on–deck approach to the 2022 storms as well, working round–the–clock to restore power. Reliability is not only our customers’ top priority, it is ours too. We recognize how important it is to communicate estimated restoration times to our customers based on accurate damage information.

We provided relief to help those affected by the pandemic. We waived late fees, extended payment plan options, suspended disconnections for non–payment, and reconnected customers previously disconnected due to non–payment.

We made significant investments in our electric transmission and distribution systems, including modernizing our distribution grid to make it more resilient and accommodate more renewable energy. We surpassed 1.2 million smart meters installed and read. We are also helping to bring high speed broadband to those who need it, completing our first rural broadband project in 2021. And we continued to place outage–prone distribution lines underground through our strategic underground program and focus on developing a new customer information platform.

Last year, we awarded over $500,000 to students from underrepresented communities in our service area through the Educational Equity Scholarship Program, a six–year, $10 million initiative. And through the HBCU Promise, we supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the Commonwealth.

Clean Energy Future

Net Zero

Our vision is to be the most sustainable energy company in the nation. We are getting as clean as we can, as fast we can, while maintaining reliability and affordability. Our goal is net zero carbon and methane emissions by 2050.

We are developing and building more solar, offshore wind, and energy storage to meet our sustainability goals.

We have one of the largest solar portfolios among investor-owned utilities in the U.S., and we are developing more every day—including a large project that repurposes former coal mines in Southwest Virginia for new solar energy growth.

We are developing the largest wind farm on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. When complete, the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm will generate enough clean energy to power up to 660,000 homes.

We are building more of the energy storage that is critical for reliability as we expand renewables. We are helping Virginia school districts obtain electric buses that are cleaner, safer for children, and can be used as mobile batteries. And we are exploring how hydrogen can help us reach net zero emissions and decarbonize other industries.

We are renewing the licenses of our zero–carbon Surry and North Anna nuclear power stations, which provide clean energy to 870,000 homes.

Empowering Our People

Empowering our people

Attracting, developing, and retaining top talent makes us a strong company. In 2021, we published our first public Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion report. At our company, we work hard to create an environment where all colleagues are respected, valued, and appreciated. We are proud to be continually ranked among the best employers in the U.S. for veterans, women, and diversity. We also have received a perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.

We will continue safely delivering reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy regardless of the challenges in the years to come. Thank you for your support. We appreciate you and look forward to serving you in 2022 and beyond.

Sincerely,

Edward Baine
