Caroline, Spotsylvania Counties, and surrounding areas are experiencing new development. The Ladysmith-St. John’s-Lee’s Hill 230 kV Electric Transmission project proposes solutions to meet the power needs of these areas while minimizing impacts to the surrounding area.

Legal
The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) is responsible for verifying the need, determining the route, and reviewing the environmental impact of certain transmission lines in Virginia.
Dominion Energy submitted its application regarding this project on August 29, 2024. Documents related to the case are made available to the public on the SCC Docket Search section of the SCC web site, in the “Search Cases” section (enter case number PUR-2024-00159). This project was approved on May 28, 2025.
