Biomass Fuel Facilities

Reliable. Clean. Community-focused.

Our biofuel facilities represent innovative, sustainable energy solutions designed to benefit both you and the environment.

What is Biofuel?

Biofuel is a renewable energy source created from organic materials like food waste, agricultural residue or wood products. By repurposing waste, biofuel reduces landfill dependence and promotes a cleaner, more sustainable future for you and your community.

How Does it Work?

  1. Collection: Organic waste is gathered from sources such as farms, facilities and lumber operations.
  2. Processing: Waste materials are refined into biomass.
  3. Energy Generation: Biomass is used to produce electricity or natural gas, reducing dependency on fossil fuels.

Making a Local Impact

Our biomass facilities in Hopewell, Altavista, and Southampton, Va., actively contribute to the community and the environment by:
  • Generating 51 megawatts of energy per station—enough to power thousands of homes.
  • Creating approximately 30 jobs per facility, plus 100+ local forestry and trucking jobs to transport nearly 600,000 tons of biomass annually.
