Porter Hill
230 kV Switching Station
The proposed Porter Hill 230 kV Switching Station will support electric reliability and meet growing demand for electricity in Stafford County.
Project Details
As Stafford County and the I-95 corridor grow, so does the need for reliable electricity. To help meet this demand, Dominion Energy proposes to build new infrastructure. The proposed Porter Hill Switching Station will be a 230-kV facility located along the existing transmission corridor between the Fredericksburg and Possum Point substations. Dominion Energy is currently working to purchase land for the project in Stafford County's Falmouth District.

What to Expect
The proposed switching station is located next to existing transmission lines. This helps limit the need for new power line routes and reduces impacts on nearby communities and the environment. It will also help provide reliable electric service as the area grows.
The project timeline depends on several factors, including land acquisition, engineering, permitting, and future energy needs. You can expect more details as the project moves forward.
