Overview

Solar is an important part of Virginia’s clean energy economy. Today Dominion Energy is operating or developing enough solar to power more than 750,000 Virginia homes. Over the next 15 years, we will build on that progress and develop enough solar to power more than 4 million Virginia homes at peak output. That means more clean energy for Virginians, more tax revenue for counties and more jobs and economic opportunities for local communities. It’s all about building a brighter future for our customers, our communities and the environment.

Our proposed Laurel Branch Solar facility will generate up to 80 megawatts of clean electricity, enough to power up to 20,000 homes at peak output. The project is located southwest of the Town of Kenbridge in Lunenburg County, positioned between Plank Road and Sneads Store Road. It is anticipated to complete construction and be in service by the end of 2028.

Application Submittal to County: March 2022
Commence Construction: Spring 2026
Online: 2028
