With Dominion Energy’s Residential Charger Program, installing a Level 2 EV charger is easier and more affordable than ever. Here’s what you need to know about the program:
One-Stop Shop Solution
Dominion Energy takes the stress out of installing a home EV charger by coordinating every step of the process for you. From handling the necessary electrical work to supplying an approved Level 2 charger and matching you with a licensed electrician, we ensure an easy and seamless installation. Our qualified, third-party electricians will install your Level 2 charging station, including the necessary breaker, wiring, and outlet. Plus, you’ll receive ongoing charger maintenance and a five-year warranty for your peace of mind.Convenient Monthly Payments
Installing a home EV charger can have a significant upfront cost. That’s why our program offers convenient fixed payments of $40.27 per month. These payments are applied directly to your Dominion Energy bill over five years, making it easier to manage the costs without a large initial expense.Am I Eligible to Participate?
To participate you must:
- Have an existing Virginia residential account in good standing;
- Own a free-standing single-family home;
- Select a charging location that is within 30 ft. of your main electrical panel;
- Have capacity in your electrical panel to support the required electrical upgrades (don't worry, we'll help you figure this out!); and
- Install a Dominion Energy approved charger, included as part of this program.
How to Get Started
To get started, you'll need to submit a program interest form on our website. After verifying you’re a residential customer in Virginia who owns a free-standing single-family home, you'll complete a home charging assessment with our trusted partner, Qmerit. This assessment will help determine the best charging solution for your home. You’ll then be matched with a certified electrician to develop a project plan and schedule your installation if approved.

Frequently Asked Questions
After your charger has been installed you will pay $40.27 each month on your Dominion Energy bill for five years. This charge will appear on your bill as an additional line item called EVCR Installment. You can pay off the remaining balance at any time.
You may also request to make a one-time, upfront payment of $1,835.96 for your charger and installation.
This price includes the cost of the charger itself, the installer's labor and materials needed (such as wiring, conduit, and circuit breaker), permitting, and ongoing maintenance and support, including a five-year warranty.
Yes. Participating customers will need to sign Dominion Energy's Customer Contract for EV Charging Equipment.

If you're a monthly payment customer and decide to move or discontinue service during the five-year program term, a termination fee will be applied to your final bill. This fee, detailed in your installation contract, will be the undepreciated remaining balance of the charging equipment at the time of your final bill.
Since you own the charger upon installation, you have the option to hire any certified electrician to remove and re-install it at your own expense. Alternatively, we can assist with the relocation through our partner, Qmerit. Please note that any removal and re-installation fees will be additional to the final termination fee and will be managed directly with your electrician or Qmerit.
Dominion Energy will provide ongoing maintenance and support, including a five-year warranty.
Yes. The Off-Peak Plan can help customers save money by shifting energy usage, including EV charging, to more affordable, off-peak hours.
