Current natural gas rates and tariffs for residential and business customers
For the first time in 12 years, Dominion Energy West Virginia filed an application on September 30, 2020, with the Public Service Commission requesting an increase to our base rates for natural gas service. In our 2018 pipeline replacement and expansion program (PREP) case, we committed to filing a case in 2020.
Since our last base rate increase in 2008, we’ve made significant investments to continue to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of our system, while meeting increasingly stringent reliability, security and environmental requirements.
This base rate increase will allow us to continue to deliver on our commitment to you to provide affordable, safe and reliable natural gas service.
Residential customers will see an increase of $8.58, and bills for small commercial customers will increase $66.18.
Residential customers may have seen a gross average increase amount of $12.17 in the Tariff Form 8 insert in your bill or printed in the newspaper. This amount is due to the partial offset and simultaneous change in the PREP rate, the other main component of your monthly bill.
The proposed base rate adjustment is consistent with increases that other West Virginia gas utilities have experienced over the last decade.
Over the past 12 years, we’ve made significant investments to continue to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of our system, while meeting increasingly stringent reliability, security and environmental requirements.
In May 2020, the PSC approved the acquisition of more than 2,000 miles of West Virginia gathering assets supporting our ongoing service for 10,000 rural customers.
The base rate increase will allow us to continue to deliver on our commitment to you to provide affordable, safe and reliable natural gas service.
Anyone who is interested in participating in the rate case should file a written request prior to October 30, 2020. All requests should briefly state the reason for the dispute.
It should be mailed and addressed to:
The Executive Secretary, Public Service Commission of West Virginia, P.O. Box 812, 201 Brooks St., Charleston, West Virginia 25323, or it may be hand delivered.
You can file online through the Commission website (www.psc.state.wv.us) using the “Submit a Comment” link.
