Smart Thermostat Purchase Program

Get a rebate for upgrading to a smart thermostat

Receive a one-time rebate up to $100 from Dominion Energy when you purchase an eligible smart thermostat for your home!

A smart thermostat is a WiFi-enabled device that can automatically adjust heating and cooling temperature settings in your home for optimal performance. For the average household, almost half the annual energy bill goes to heating and cooling – more than $900 a year! Being smart about how you control your temperature settings will help you save money and stay comfortable in your home.

There is a maximum of two rebates per household for different smart thermostats purchased during the program time period.

Rebate Eligibility Requirements

  • The thermostat must be in a single-family detached residence, a single-family attached residence (such as a townhome), or a single-family manufactured home (such as a mobile home or modular home).
  • Purchaser must be the person responsible for the electric bill.
  • Purchaser must be the homeowner or able to secure permission to participate.
  • The home have electric heating and cooling with an air source heat pump, ductless mini-split heat pump or geothermal heat pump.
  • Must purchase and activate an ENERGY STAR® certified smart thermostat to control your home's heat pump system. The current list of eligible product manufacturers is ecobee, Emerson, Google Nest and Honeywell Home.

Rebate application must be submitted within 90 days of the purchase date. Rebate payments are based on the date of purchase. Customers must abide by the rules and rebate levels in effect on the date of purchase.
