Solar Panels

Overview & Project Description

Solar energy is playing an important role in building Virginia's clean energy economy and achieving Dominion Energy's goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions. Over the next 15 years, Dominion Energy plans to add about 16,000MW of solar in Virginia. That's enough clean energy to power nearly 4 million homes and businesses at peak output.

The Madison Solar facility located in Orange County will help us to meet these goals.

Madison Solar is a 62.5MW utility-scale solar facility, situated on 663 acres, acquired by Dominion Energy in 2020. This project is the first project of its kind owned and operated by Dominion Energy in Orange County.

Construction on the project began July 2021.

In addition to advancing Virginia's clean energy economy, the Madison Solar facility will provide many benefits to the state and local economies, including opportunities for local vendors and suppliers, job opportunities for local residents, and new tax revenue for local governments.
