To continue to meet the growing demand for safe and reliable energy across South Carolina, Dominion Energy will be rebuilding an existing electric Transmission line in the Ladson and Summerville areas in the fall of 2020. The rebuilt line will help supply power to the greater Summerville area as well as ensure the electrical reliability of the Lowcountry.

Dominion Energy South Carolina will replace an existing wooden frame “H-Frame” transmission line with self-supporting galvanized steel structures. The new line will be constructed by a contractor of Dominion Energy named PIKE and will be designed to meet all modern electric codes and help provide a more resilient electric feed in the Lowcountry.

Line construction started in the summer of 2020 and will be completed by the end of the year.

The line begins at “Ladson Junction” which is near the intersection of Highway 78 and Ladson Road and will conclude at the Summerville Substation which is just south of Highway 17. Along the route, the line will cross College Park Road and Royle Road.

Because the line is somewhat removed from major roads or highways, there are no major impacts expected for travel patterns.
