Mecklenburg County has been successful in diversifying its economic prospects and growing new industries in the county. To keep up with the economic developments and increased electrical demands, we are currently evaluating and planning for two new electric transmission lines parallel to one another on shared right of way into the South Hill/La Crosse areas, as well as three new substations in South Hill/La Crosse. A transmission line loop will need to be built between the three new substations.
Unity Substation will be constructed as part of the South Hill Project. This project will bolster reliability, address the energy needs of the region and continue our commitment to providing safe, reliable electricity to our neighbors.
