A line rebuild project in Charleston County
Dominion Energy South Carolina will replace existing structures along the West Ashley "Croghan" Greenway in the spring and summer of 2020.
While the line is not being upgraded, the existing wooden structures have reached the end of their usable life and need to be replaced. Dominion Energy Electric Transmission crews will be working to replace the existing structures with the new Ductile Iron structures that will help ensure the resiliency and reliability of this transmission line. The transmission line is critical to provide power to the greater West Ashley area as well as ensure the reliability of the electric grid in the Lowcountry.
Line construction started in the summer of 2020 and will be completed by the end of the year.
Construction will begin near Coburg Road and run west along the West Ashley Greenway for 2.80 miles until the line reaches Arlington Drive. From there, DESC will be replacing the existing structures along Arlington Drive, Rondo Street, and Carrillo Street. Construction will end on the south side of Hwy. 17.
While there will be minimal disruptions to normal vehicular traffic, access along the Greenway may be detoured or interrupted for short periods of time. DESC will be taking steps to ensure the safety of our employees and the public in this highly used corridor.
