The project begins on James Island at the Queensboro Substation on George Griffith Boulevard. From there it passes by the front of the Meridian Place neighborhood, through the James Island County Park, and across the Stono River onto Johns Island. On Johns Island, the line turns north and crosses Maybank Highway and Rushland Landing Road before crossing the Stono River into Charleston. The line will cross Highway 17 and stop near Glenn McConnell Parkway.
The major road crossings for this project are Maybank Highway and Hwy 17. Construction work will be sequenced to cause minimal interruptions to traffic patterns. Additionally, the line crosses the Stono River twice. Residents can expect to see barges and other construction equipment in the Stono River during construction.
