Overview

We are planning to rebuild the 115 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line from our Great Bridge Substation to our Hickory Substation in Chesapeake, Virginia. This rebuild will be replacing structures from our Hickory Substation to the Great Bridge Junction with weathering steel H-Frames/Engineered structures. The original structures were constructed on wood H-Frames and Corten towers in 1953 and 1967. This line needs to be rebuilt to current electric reliability standards based on end-of-life concerns. Our Great Bridge Junction to Great Bridge Substation will be updated with double-circuit monopoles, one antenna structure will be galvanized, and all other structures will be weathering steel.
