Overview

Ours suggested approach is to rebuild this line in a manner that:

  • Upgrades the line the current 115 kV standards
  • Maximizes use of the existing right of way corridor
  • Maintains reliable service
Map of Dozier to Thompson Corner

The Dozier to Thompsons Corner project will rebuild an existing 115 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line from our Dozier Substation in Chesapeake, Virginia to our Thompson’s Corner Substation in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dominion Energy currently operates the overhead 115 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line that was constructed on wood H-frame, wood three pole, and guyed monopole structures in 1955. The line needs to be rebuilt to current electric reliability standards based on end-of-life concerns.

Anticipated Schedule

  • Fall 2020 - Preconstruction activities
  • February 2021 - Construction begins
