A Line Rebuild Project in Richland County, SC
We are planning to rebuild the 115 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line from Denny Terrace to Rader in Richland County, South Carolina.
After being in operation for more than 60 years, a portion of two aging electric transmission lines needs to be rebuilt. The lines will be rebuilt are known as the Denny Terrace – Rader 115 kV and are each six miles long. The entirety of the rebuild will be done exclusively on existing transmission rights-of way.
We will replace the exiting 115 kilovolt (kV) wooden poles with self supporting galvanized steel structures. The new line will be designed to meet all modern electric codes as well as provide additional reliability and resiliency to the greater East Columbia area. The rebuilt lines will be constructed by Dominion Energy contractors.
The engineering design and environmental permitting began in the 1st quarter of 2021 and is ongoing. Construction is scheduled to begin at the beginning of 2022 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2022. Letters will be sent out to impacted property owners along the route as DESC gets closer to construction.
