Overview

To meet the region’s growing energy needs, we are preparing to replace the wires on, or reconductor, a four-mile transmission line between Clark and Idylwood substations in Fairfax County, Virginia. This 230 kilovolt line parallels the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. For the safety of trail users and our crews, we will temporarily reroute trail traffic on portions of the trail.

Benefits

  • Maintains current structures and right of way
  • Complies with mandatory standards to ensure safety, reliability and to meet future needs
  • Minimizes impact to the community and environment
