Armed with paintbrushes, shovels, and know-how, 30 Dominion Energy employees helped beautify The Phillips School in Fairfax, Virginia. The Phillips School is a private not-for-profit school for exceptional children—such as those with autism and behavioral health needs.
With students having the Columbus Day holiday off, volunteers could work through the school and grounds. Outside, they removed hazards such as rocks and spread mulch around the landscaping. Inside, volunteers painted cheerful murals— fluffy trees and happy, polka-dotted mushrooms. The team also put together sensory furniture for the children and organized the school’s library.
Dominion Energy’s Fairfax office is right next door to the Phillips School. “We’re so glad to be able to help out our neighbors— especially children who need a little extra attention. Volunteering and helping others is part of the DNA here at Dominion Energy,” said David Tobey, Fairfax Distribution Operations.
The Fairfax team also put together hygiene bags and snack packs for the children.
