The Community Impact Awards competition, co-sponsored by Cleveland Magazine, has awarded more than $2 million since 1996 to organizations in our service area. Our 28th anniversary recipients will be announced and featured in a 2023 issue of Cleveland Magazine.

Eligibility & Guidelines

  • Projects must have been completed between July 2022 and November 2022.
  • Projects must have made a major contribution to the economic or social revitalization in our communities.
  • Projects must have made a major contribution to support diversity, inclusion, and equity in our communities.
  • Projects must describe how the COVID–19 pandemic has changed the ability to make impact in the community.
  • Organizations must be 501c(3).

Refer to the award guidelines and entry information to prepare your nomination at: DominionEnergy.com, search impact. The application period closes Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 5:00 pm.

Each entry must include the following information:

To be eligible to receive a Dominion Energy Community Impact Award, organizations MUST provide:

  1. Name of your organization, a contact name and title, telephone number, email address and complete mailing address.
  2. A brief description/history of your community or organization.
  3. Description of the project and qualitative and quantitative results demonstrating how it promoted economic and/or social revitalization, including objectives, benefits, impact, and community interest/involvement.
  4. Details regarding the extent to which the project generated positive change and growth within its targeted area.
  5. The number of people impacted/served by this project.
  6. Details of how this project encourages and promotes future development and revitalization.
  7. Information about the project’s impact on the community, i.e., the effect the project had in terms of jobs, spending, taxes, etc.
  8. How this initiative has supported diversity, inclusion, and equity in your community.

Community Impact Awards Timeline

  • September 1st - Begin Accepting Applications
  • November 30th - Entry Deadline
  • February/March - Judging
  • March/April - All applicants to be notified about the status of their entry by email
  • July – Awards Program

Tatiana Suarez -- midtown

MidTown Cleveland, Inc.: Cleveland Walls Mural Program,
Cleveland, OH 

The Cleveland Walls Mural Program added 19 murals from 23 local and national artists to walls throughout MidTown and its surrounding neighborhoods and brought thousands of visitors to MidTown for over 20 inclusive cultural events over ten days in August 2021.

StarkFresh: A Grocery Store Oasis Takes Root Inside a Former Food Dessert
Canton, OH 

StarkFresh opened The StarkFresh Grocery Store,2.5 blocks from Stark County's main bus terminal, in downtown Canton, where no grocery store had been for over 50 years. Offering fresh produce, meats, snacks, grains, & other household staples at affordable rates & accepting all payment types has allowed the store to able to supply 609,202 individual servings of food to nearby residents.

Boxing bootcamp

Soldiers of Honor: Boxing Bootcamp,
Lima, OH

Soldiers of Honor, located in downtown Lima is a one-of-a-kind organization that uses boxing as a catch to draw youth from all walks of life, ethnicities, races, and backgrounds. Boxing bootcamp strategies are used to help youth relate to life in and out of the ring.
