Electric Transmission Reconductor Project
The conductor wire on the 230 kV electric transmission line that runs for 4.6 miles between our Woodbridge and Occoquan substations in Prince William and Fairfax counties needs to be replaced to maintain electric reliability for our customers. This project will replace the conductor wire and associated components on the existing structures, which will remain in place.

As part of our commitment to providing reliable electric service in the communities we serve, we are preparing to replace conductor wire on existing electric transmission structures that have been in service for over four decades.
During construction, wire pulling across roads will require temporary lane closures and short traffic stoppages for the safety of the public and our crews.
Electric transmission planning engineers conduct studies to evaluate scenarios where the loss of electric transmission assets would result in an overload on the grid.
This project proactively addresses the issues identified in these studies to maintain federal reliability standards and strengthen grid resiliency.
There are no planned service interruptions for this project
The time the updated equipment will last once in service.
