Appliance recycling
Currently, our Appliance Recycling Program is not able to schedule new pickups due to logistical issues. For customers who have questions on existing scheduled pickups please call 877-785-6681, then select option 3 after choosing the language option. We apologize for the inconvenience.

When it's time to upgrade your household appliances, Dominion Energy will help you to responsibly recycle them—and get cash back too!

We've partnered with recycling company Recleim to offer a convenient way to remove and recycle your old, energy-inefficient refrigerators and freezers. You can save up to $150 per year on their energy bill by running more efficient ENERGY STAR-rated models, and receive a $20 cash incentive for pulling the plug on an outdated and inefficient appliance.

It's a win/win for Dominion Energy customers and for the environment. Not only will the collected appliances not end up in a landfill, but once they're dismantled by the technicians at Recleim, 95% of the materials (such as plastic, metals, and glass) will be recycled.

If your old appliance meets a few simple criteria, you may be on your way to a $20 rebate:

  • Refrigerators or freezers must be at least 10 years old and have a capacity between 10 and 32 cubic feet
  • Appliances must be in working condition (the compressor should still be humming)
  • Limit of two appliances per account number over the life of the program

This is not a replacement program. While Recleim will collect the old appliance and issue the incentive, customers must purchase their own replacement appliance.

Call 888-366-8280 to speak with a customer service representative. You’ll need to give the name on your account, your account number, address, and appliance information. Then you’ll schedule a pick-up date for a professional collection crew to inspect and collect your appliance(s). Your rebate should arrive within 4-6 weeks.
