Walnut, Belcher, and Bedford

In October 2019, Dominion Energy announced its joint effort with the Commonwealth of Virginia to assist Virginia in meeting its renewable energy goals with the addition of four new solar facilities, totaling in aggregate 345 megawatts. All facilities will be built in Dominion Energy Virginia’s service territory. Three of the planned projects are detailed below. The location of the fourth project, which is expected to be 97 megawatts, has not yet been publicly disclosed.

  • Walnut Solar: This is a 90-megawatt facility located in King and Queen County Virginia that is expected to be operational in 2021
  • Belcher Solar: This is an 88-megawatt facility located in Louisa County, Virginia that is expected to be operational in December 2020
  • Bedford Solar: This is a 70-megawatt facility located in the City of Chesapeake Virginia that is expected to be operational in 2021.
