Energizing Our Communities Supports Virginia Girl Scouts

Virginia Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts from local Troop 5465 in Richmond, VA recently partnered with Dominion Energy volunteers to build a rain garden in the South Taylor Street Park in Ashland, VA. The rain garden will reduce runoff, help filter rainwater into the groundwater system and improve water quality. The garden was topped off with pollinator-friendly flowers to help provide a habitat for bees and other pollinators.

The rain garden project helped the Girl Scouts learn about the environment and work toward earning their bronze award. Heather Eades, a Dominion Energy employee and co-leader of Troop 5465, helped organize the Dominion Energy volunteers as part of the company’s “Energizing Our Communities” program.

In addition to building the rain garden, the group worked to beautify the park by picking up trash, weeding, and spreading mulch in the playground area.
