Supporting Our Vets in New York
We have a proud history of supporting veterans both at work – where one in five new hires is a veteran – and in our communities. The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation gave grants recently to two nonprofit organizations that support veterans in Utica, N.Y., totaling over $55,000.
The Utica Center for Development, which provides food, clothing and shelter for military veterans and their families was one of the grant recipients. Their important work depends on a reliable vehicle fleet, to transport veterans who need to go shopping or attend medical appointments and deliver food, clothing and household items to those in need. The grant enabled the Utica Center for Development to purchase a newer passenger van and a utility truck which will support their mission.
Feed Our Veterans, which serves veterans and active duty families in need, also received a grant from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. This additional funding will help Feed Our Veterans in their mission, which allows veterans to “shop” the pantry shelves and pick out food they need for the coming weeks, so they can eat nutritionally and can focus more of their limited incomes on housing and utilities.
