Get Into Energy Pitch Competition

Fan a spark, and you’ll get a flame—that’s how innovation starts. Just ask one of the eight student teams from four Central Virginia high schools: Cumberland HS, Dinwiddie HS, Chesterfield Technical & Career Center and the Bridging Communities Career & Technical Center.

These teams partnered with mentors from Dominion Energy, Columbia Gas, and InfraSource. Students were challenged to experiment all year to find renewable energy or sustainability solutions help create a self-healing energy grid in Virginia for the “Get Into Energy” Challenge, sponsored by the Virginia Energy Workforce Consortium.

A panel of industry experts listened to these incredible ideas at a “shark tank” style competition and declared a winner at the end of the school year. Students gained valuable experience working in teams, exploring energy issues, and making connections with future employers.
