DENC supports inaugural celebration for Durham Firefighters
In appreciation for the City of Durham’s Fire Department and their response to the April gas incident, DENC supported the first-ever Bull City FireFest on Oct.12, a family-friendly celebration to honor Durham firefighters. Many of Dominion Energy’s Durham first responders attended the gathering as well.
“On behalf of Dominion Energy and its employees, it’s both an honor and a pleasure to sponsor the inaugural Firefest,” said Jerry O’keeffe, Manager of Large accounts for DENC, at the start of the event. “We’re delighted to be at the historic Durham Athletic Park to show appreciation for the important work of our cities’ First Responders. We thank all of them and their families for all they do for Durham.”
Approximately 650 firefighters, Dominion Energy employees and their families enjoyed entertainment and activities such as rock climbing and face painting. Dominion Energy sponsored the food vendors, seating and signage, which allowed for attendees to sit and enjoy a free meal.
“We've gotten so much positive feedback, folks had a wonderful afternoon! Our fire families enjoyed a day together, and lots of our firefighters on shift were able to stop by and visit with their families and get something to eat,” said the event organizer, Laura Gullie. “None of this would have been possible without your support.”
