Charity Golf Tournament Tee'd Off at Cancer

Golf Tournament

No discriminator of age, race, gender or geography, cancer has impacted each of us with 1.76 million new cases estimated to be diagnosed in the United States in 2019. Seeking to support those battling this disease and to encourage their caregivers, 168 golfers gathered in West Virginia to raise more than $155,000 for the 24th Annual Dominion Energy Charity Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the event benefited the American Cancer Society who provided educational and engaging activities along the course and fourteen area non-profits committed to growing the community’s access to healthcare, education, and meeting critical needs. These recipients included:

Dominion Energy Transmission President, Paul Ruppert, also thanked Dominion Energy employees, contractors and industry sponsors contributing to the event for their efforts to provide safe, efficient and reliable energy in the region.  “Your unwavering commitment has endured some challenges, but you have persevered, upholding the highest standards for excellence. I am proud to stand with you tonight as we support our community and celebrate the opportunities that lie ahead.”

For the past 20 years, this event has raised nearly $2 million for local charities under the direction of Bob Orndorff, State Policy and Local Affairs Director for Dominion Energy in WV. Bob will be retiring next spring but the tournament will carry on celebrating its 25th tournament on September 21, 2020
