Tech for Troops
Post 9/11 veterans have a higher rate of poverty, homelessness, and unemployment compared to any other group of veterans and they need support from their communities. Recognizing this unfortunate trend, Dominion Energy has announced more than half a million in grants to veteran’s organizations, including $50,000 to the Tech for Troops project.
Dominion Energy and Tech for Troops, a local non-profit have partnered to provide upcycled and refurbished computers and critical computer training to struggling veterans. Many of these veterans were referred by Paralyzed America Veterans, McGuire Medical Center (Richmond, VA), and several transitional homeless shelters.
Recently, a group of Dominion Energy volunteers, also vets themselves, worked directly with these vets to help educate them on cybersecurity topics and how to protect their identities online.
