Riding for Community Development
The Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition has presented its 2017 Corporate Award to Dominion Energy Ohio, recognizing the company’s support of continued development and enhancement of the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area, Towpath Trail and Connector Trails in northeast Ohio.
Dominion Energy Ohio and the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition recently hosted a company-sponsored volunteer day, supported by a $15,000 Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation grant. About 40 employees participated in landscaping, weed pulling, painting, planting, and major earth removal on three separate Canalway underpasses.
In addition, 10 Dominion Energy employees participated in the recent Huntington Towpath Trail Century Ride, a 101-mile bike ride to raise funds and awareness for the bike trail that connects Cleveland and New Philadelphia. Dominion Energy also sponsors the bicycle ride.
Mike Reed, general manager–Pipeline Operations, serves on the coalition’s board of directors, while Lisa Curll, senior business performance analyst, serves on the group’s associate board of directors.
“Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition is one of Dominion Energy Ohio’s strongest partnerships, which makes receiving this award on behalf of the company truly special,” said Ben Kroeck, senior philanthropy coordinator and captain of Dominion Energy Ohio’s Century Ride cycling team.
