Reviving a Historic Community in New York
Dominion Energy is partnering with the Mohawk Valley Collective to establish a new park in the village of Fort Plain, NY, just north of the Dominion’s Brookman Corners Compressor Station.
In an effort to revitalize the historic Unity Hall area of Fort Plain, members of the Mohawk Valley Collective demolished an unrepairable house next to the local cultural center and concert hall and installed a communal space for concerts, weddings, parties, and other community initiatives. The space also will feature a community garden and pavilion.
The Mohawk Valley Collective is a nonprofit dedicated to restoring and revitalizing the historic New York areas of Unity Hall and the former West Hill School. They promote tourism and job creation; and serve as a clearinghouse for information cultural and recreational attractions, events and accommodations; and to make connections, so visitors will return to the region.
Dominion Energy has been a consistent supporter of the Fort Plain community, energizing other local projects near the Brookman Corners station.
