230 kV Electric Transmission Project
Your community and others across Virginia is seeing growing energy demand. To keep your service reliable and ready for the future, the transmission line between the Charlottesville and Gordonsville substations is being upgraded.

To meet rising energy demand in your area, 20 miles of transmission line between the Charlottesville and Gordonsville substations will be rebuilt with double-circuit 230 kV structures.

The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) has regulatory authority over all energy providers in Virginia. Among other responsibilities, the SCC validates the need for a proposed line and approves the route and structures. In reviewing a proposed project, the SCC must consider whether potential impacts on scenic assets, historic districts and the environment have been reasonably minimized.
