Mercator 230 kV Electric Transmission Project

You will continue to have safe, affordable, and increasingly clean electricity as energy needs grow in Fairfax County. To support this, Dominion Energy is planning a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and the Mercator Substation to strengthen the local grid and ensure reliable power.
As Fairfax County continues to grow, so does the need for safe, reliable electricity. To meet this demand and support the community’s future, Dominion Energy is planning to build a new transmission line and substation in your area.
This project will help:
  • Keep power reliable as more people and businesses move into the area
  • Prevent outages by strengthening the local electric grid
  • Support future growth in homes, schools, and workplaces
  • Ensure energy is available when and where it’s needed most
  • Prepare the system for tomorrow’s technology and energy use

These upgrades will make sure your power stays reliable—even as more people and technology rely on it every day.
