Frequently Asked Questions

A substation is a facility that changes voltage from high to low or from low to high, among other important functions. When electric transmission lines enter a substation, the voltage is lowered using transformers. The lower voltage electricity is delivered to customers using electric distribution lines.
Due to recent growth and future development on the horizon in Caroline County, there is a need for new electric transmission infrastructure investments to maintain grid reliability. This new infrastructure will allow us to meet the growing energy needs, continue reliable electric service, and maintain compliance with federal reliability standards.
Work will be completed during permitted construction hours. You can expect to see crews on foot or in vehicles accessing the right of way, which may include the use of access roads outside the right of way.
