Dominion Energy currently operates a 115 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line that provides critical electric service from our Mackeys Substation to our Creswell Substation in Washington County, North Carolina.
This project will rebuild the existing 115 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line. No new rights of way is needed; however, temporary right of way will be required to build a temporary transmission line.
This 14-mile line extends from our Mackeys Substation to our Creswell Substation in Washington County, Virginia. The existing wood H-frame structures have been in operations since 1970 and nearing the end of their service life. New double-circuit steel monopole structures will be built in the same general location as the existing structures and will be 105 feet tall on average. The structures need to be replaced to ensure the reliable operation of the transmission line.
