Fork Union Substation Cut-In Project
Project Update:Oct. 30, 2018 – The company has filed its application before the Virginia State Corporation Commission for approval of the Fork Union Substation Cut-In Project.
The new substation is located 1.5 miles north of the Bremo Power Station in Fluvanna County, VA. As part of this effort, the company must reconfigure its existing transmission lines to feed the new substation. The substation is adjacent to existing right of way and no new right of way is needed as part of this project.
The project is necessary to resolve potential violations of the mandatory North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards related to the deactivation and cold storage of the Company’s Bremo Power Station Units 3 and 4.
SCC Approval Process
The State Corporation Commission (SCC) is responsible for verifying the need, determining the route and reviewing the environmental impact of certain transmission lines in Virginia.
On Oct. 30, 2018, the company filed it application with the SCC, case number PUR-2018-00159. Documents related to the case are available to the public on the SCC Docket Search section of the SCC rel="noopener noreferrer" website, in the "Search Cases" section.
